Permaculture: A Beginner’s Guide to Getting Started. This is a half-day course, which discusses what Permaculture might be and uses our site here to demonstrate how we are starting to implement the ideas. We will also talk about your own situation, whether it be a window box of herbs, a town garden or country estate, with an emphasis on actually getting started. Have a look at our blog to see more of what we’re up to.

Permaculture Approach to Managing Woodlands. Our main source of reference will be Ben Law’s book The Woodland Way and will take place in our 4.5 hectares (11 acres) of mixed woodland. This is a half-day course, it will discuss the history of the woodland and how we have started to evolve a permaculture-based management plan, with an emphasis on how to get started.

Preparing Chickens for the Pot. If you have a mind to keep chickens for meat, as well as eggs, but are anxious about the stages between chicken and pot, then this highly practical half-day course is for you. We will show you how we keep our own free-range chickens and then demonstrate how to humanely despatch a chicken, pluck and draw it, then joint it and prepare a traditional Coq au Vin, which we shall all share the following evening.

Jam or Pickle Making with our neighbour, Carole. This is a half-day course, which will end with jam or pickle that you’ve produced to take home, where you will learn the “how-to” as well as getting the confidence to produce your own home-made jam.

Beginner’s Guide to Carpentry Skills: Making Bird-boxes. This is a half-day course, where you will be introduced to tools and techniques of basic woodworking and gain confidence to start making things yourself. It will include how to break down a pallet into useful wood and end with the production of a bird-box that you can take home with you to put into your own garden.

Painting. The details have yet to be finalised but there is the opportunity to do one or more three-hour workshops with our friend Liz, an established artist and qualified teacher: getting you started, introducing new ideas and techniques and improving and expanding your existing talents. All materials included. The picture above is one Gabrielle did, after a few sessions with Liz, having never painted before.

Prices: All courses will include tea/coffee break and lunch (or evening meal with the chicken course). Prices to be announced.

Horseriding. Not a course run by us but there is an equestrian centre nearby, where there is an opportunity to have lessons. Gabrielle is hoping to try this out soon herself, so she will be better placed to tell you all about it. Ceramic Pipe Buying Guide: Discover the Art of Smoking Pipes

A weed grinder is an essential tool for enhancing your smoking experience. By efficiently breaking down your cannabis into smaller, uniform pieces, it ensures a smoother and more even burn. Moreover, a good grinder can preserve the potency of your herbs by preventing excessive handling. Additionally, using a grinder allows for better airflow, which improves the overall flavor and effectiveness of your smoke. Ultimately, investing in a quality weed grinder transforms your sessions into a more enjoyable ritual.
